  • Digital Footprint: anything about you or put about you online--easy or hard to find

  • Tip: Set up google alerts to see when you to see when something is posted about you

  • creating a professional digital portfolio for their artwork
  • creating a professional social media account (instagram, facebook, twitter, etc.) for their artistic practices

  • using school computers safely to avoid viruses or hacking
  • keeping their school work safe and backed up

Media Balance + Well-Being
  • Be aware of screen time--tv, computer, phone, etc.
    • Creative: art, media, digital creation, etc.
    • Communicative: apps, games, email, social media, etc.
  • Set limits, remember reality, engage with purpose, foster positive conversation, share ideas with others
  • Balance equal amounts of online + offline time

  • being more present in the classroom
  • using their devices to work on digital art
  • creating a positive classroom environment 

Cyberbullying, Digital Drama + Hate Speech
  • Cyberbullying: when someone uses electronics to bully a person. 
    • sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else
    • sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation
  • Cyberbullying and digital drama can both be used to describe online bullying.
  • Digital Drama is a new age phrase that refers to forms of abuse and violence among teens in the technology world.
  • Hate speech is speech that is abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice against a particular group, especially on the basis of race, religion, or sexual orientation.

  • creating a positive classroom environment
  • being aware of cyberbullying behavior so they have the knowledge to identify it and support their friends
  • identifying behavior to discuss or report their experiences
  • have honest conversations about empathy and kindness
